ISABEL MARANT SET TO OPEN IN LOS ANGELES

Isabel Marant is coming to Los Angeles! The doors were suppose to open at 8454 Melrose Place, West Los Angeles around August and September of this year but unfortunately has been pushed back without a confirmed date. Mademoiselle Marant has a special place in the hearts of Los Angelinos with her flirty, feminine & laid back  designs, which is truly a reflection of “LA” style. I will be waiting with bated breath until the launch date.

MARNI FOR H&M

H&M is continuing its collaborations with High End Fashion Designers with italian fashion House Marni. The collaboration was launched on thursday March 8, 2012 in 260 stores worldwide. Customers camped out the night before to ensure that they were the first to get their hands on the collection. To make sure that there wasn’t a repeat of  mass hysteria from previous releases i.e. Lanvin and Versace, h&m had customers were color-coded wristbands, only allowing 20 customers in at a time with only 10 minutes to shop and 5 minutes for the staff to clean up for the next 20 customers. In los Angeles, San Francisco and New York, the women’s collection was completely gone by 9:30 am with a few mens pieces left to sift through. In London the entire collection was gone by noon. For those of you who would still like some pieces of the collection in your wardrobe, you can rely on customer returns or ebay. But if you decide to shop ebay be prepared to pay more than retail price.

GIVENCHY X CONVERSE

Converse is no longer just a part of basketball and rock-n-roll history ,it will now go down in high fashion history with collaborations with Missoni, John Varvatos and now with designer Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy. These limited edition must-haves will be release April 27, 2012, but unfortunately only in Japan. But I’m sure fashion lovers from other parts of the world will find a way to get their hand on these shoes. I know I will.

TOMS + THE ROW

The Olsen Twins has teamed up with Blake Mycoskie the founder of TOMS Shoes to create TOMS+THE ROW, a limited edition line of  cashmere and wool TOMS Shoes. The twins traveled to Tegucigalpa, Honduras to personally deliver and fit shoes for the children. As it is known about TOMS shoes, that every shoe purchased a pair of shoes will be given to a child in need, the same will apply with this collection. But instead of just one child, there will be two children receiving a pair of shoes.

LOUIS VUITTON OR CHRISTIAN DIOR? THAT IS THE QUESTION

So, word on the runway is that amongst a few other prospective designers, Marc Jacobs is first in line to replace John Galliano as the new Couturier of french fashion house Christian Dior. Every since  the firing of Galliano in March of 2011 due to the  accusations of a public anti-Semitic rant, Bernard Arnault (Chairman at LVMH & Dior)  has been thoroughly looking for a new Creative Leader of Dior. Marc Jacobs is currently the Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton and Head Designer of both of his lines, Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs. But in order to become Creative Leader of Dior, he would have to leave his position at Vuitton. IF the switch were to happen the first person in line to succeed Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton is the Creative Director of Celine Phoebe Philo. As the new Artistic Director of Vuitton, Philo would still maintain her position at Celine. I dont care either way, both Jacobs and Philo oversees four out of my top ten favorite brands. So whether Jacobs leaves, Philo adds to her roster or if they decide to stay put it can only have a positive outcome, great fashion.
